Lyn May (b. 2004) lives and works in Dallas, Texas. They are currently studying for their Bachelor’s of Fine Art with a major in Studio Art and a concentration in Painting and Drawing and a minor in Art History. They plan to graduate May 2026. May’s work is interdisciplinary and exploratory, but their happy place is using charcoal and oil paint. May’s practice commonly involves using traditional, classical mediums such as oil paint and charcoal to make magic with the alchemy of minerals. Their work involves a process of self-journaling and psychoanalysis with narrative driving their hand. Within their recent painting series they explore their relationships with grief, male oppression and victimhood, transformation of self, and the pursuit of personal growth. They had their first solo show in 2024 at the College of Visual Arts and the University of North Texas (2024).May has shown in group shows at the 500X (2023), Dallas Contemporary (2023), Arts Fort Worth (2023), Greater Denton Arts Council (2023), and the College of Visual Arts at the University of North Texas (2023).
